Annual carneval parade in Ilirska Bistrica presented this year with some magnificent traditional masks from the region and wider.
Appart from the creative and modern group masks from different villages, there were zvončari from several villages across the border in croatia, a group of traditional masks from Italy, Kurenti from northeastern Slovenia, local traditional masks - beautiful škoromati and wonderful vrniške and vrbowske šjme. The biggest surprise for me though were Liški pustje - masks from Kanal pri Soči. So different, and they sure looked really like some Bobo masks from Burkina.
